OFFICIAL LEAGUE RULES AND OVERVIEW
MEGA-MAX LEAGUES
All Mega-Max Leagues are played on Merit Tournamaxx video trivia game machines.
Effective March 1, 2008 to May 31,
2009.
1. How to play. To participate in Mega-Max
leagues, simply log-in/register as explained on the Merit Video Game machine at
your favorite participating location. You must register your actual full
and complete name as found on your drivers license or legal photo
identification. Each month, there are two league games available for play.
For current league game selection information, check the game machine or
click "league info" above then "schedule" to see ads for the games
that are available for league competition. All Merit Industries Tournamaxx rules
as found on the official Merit Tournamaxx site - concurrently apply to all
Mega-Max League play rules as provided herein.

1a. How you
are ranked. To establish your league average/ranking and for prize winning eligibility,
each player must play a league game at least five times during the league
session (each month). During
each month-long league session, players compete - to test their skills against all
other league players who choose to join the league from approximately 200
participating locations. Players may compete as often as they like during
each monthly league session but they must compete at least five times to
acquire
an average for ranking. Each player's average of their best five
scores are recorded for their position in the league's ranking. All
league competition is conducted on Merit video trivia machines and all games
used in league are laboratory tested and proven games of skill. Players are required to
compete at least five times - to enhance the "skill" factor of the
league competition. This five time play requirement - eliminates the chance of one fluke game
unfairly catapulting a player in the league standings. Again, each player's
score in the league is based upon their best five individual game scores.
Player's may continue to compete during the league as many times as they like,
in order to achieve a higher "best five game average score".
Once a player competes in the league five times - their score can not go
down. A lower score will not effect a players average
- because the system continues to track only their best five scores. After
the initial five efforts, their score can only improve. When a player
achieves a better score than one of their previous best five scores - their
average improves.
1b. What
you can win? Each time a player
participates in the league they have four ways to win league prizes.
Players are simultaneously competing for four separate league prize tiers. Click
on "league info" above, then "prizes" to see the current prizes that are
available.
2. What
does it cost? All Mega-Max machines are priced
to give 6 credits for $1. Each Mega-Maxx league play cost 4 credits per
game.
3.
Some restrictions. Players may
not
compete under multiple names. Players can win in multiple Tiers, but any
scores achieved by one person under multiple log-in names will not be
allowed or combined.
If a player is found to have competed under multiple names in a league cycle,
they will only receive the prize for their highest finishing position with all
other positions forfeited. Players are allowed to compete at and for
multiple location prizes. (see # 4, 5 and 6 below). Note; Tier 3 -
Grand Prize winners are not eligible for Tier - 4 cash prize pool.
3a.
"MONTHLY" PRIZES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE
FROM MONTH TO MONTH.
4. You
can compete for prizes at multiple locations. Players
may compete in league at as many locations as they wish but can only earn one
network league position. A player can win a position such as first place in the
Tier-1 of the leagues "Top 16" and first place in Joes Bar but cannot ALSO earn
any of the other 15 places in the Tier- 1 of the leagues Top 16. See # 3
above.
FURTHER EXAMPLE:
A Player may take first place at Pioneer Lounge and first place in TP's Bar.
This is O-K, but if the player falls in the Tier-1 of the league Top 16,
wherever they fall, they only get one Top 16 spot.
5. How
prizes are awarded? All prizes are awarded by
Mega-Max Leagues. Location level league prizes are distributed by
shipment to the local machine owner/operator. The local machine
owner/operator will deliver the prizes to the location where the player -
played the most.
Machines that do not connect to the Merit
Industries main server for prolonged periods will void all play. If your
machine has not recently connected, alert the location owner / management
immediately and ask them to contact the machine owner/operator.
All league prizes
and prize checks (except Grand Prizes) are delivered to the location where the Merit Industries Data records
system shows as
the player's "Home location". The player's home location in that system is
determined by the location where the player competed at the most often during
the league session. That information is listed as the "Home location" on the
machine at the location and on the posting of winner's chart herein.
League prize checks are normally processed within one week of the league's
ending date. They are then sent to the local machine owner/operator to be
hand delivered to the "Home Location" of each league winner.
Players may check this site, a few days
after each league session ends; www.momegamaxx.com, then click on
"league results" to find their position in the
official and final league standings. Checks will be delivered to
your
"Home Location" as soon as possible following all drawings - assuming W-9s have been properly provided
where necessary.
5a.
Allow three to four weeks for prize delivery - in
some cases.
Note: It can take three (3) weeks or more to get all prizes delivered to
your home location. Due to the Tier 2 drawing at least one week
after the end of a league, then the time involved in shipping prizes to
he local operator, and then finally the local operator getting the prize
delivered to your home location, it can easily take three weeks or more.
Most operators visit their locations on a bi-weekly schedule. If
the prizes are received at the local operator's office - the day after
the operator visited your home location, it can add another two full two
weeks to the delivery of the prize. In all it can take three weeks
or more.
Statistics can be delayed or lost.
IMPORTANT: It will normally take forty
eight hours after a league ends for all machines to connect. The official
league-ranking/winner posting - cannot be done until all machines have communicated at
least twice. Communications with Merit's server is conducted at night.
Two days are needed - to allow all machines to share final data with the server
and to receive the computed results back from the server as other machines make
contact as well. Sometimes there are malfunctions caused by
equipment failures or extreme weather. There are multiple machine owner/operators
involved and occasionally an owner/operator may accidentally move a machine before
all data has been sent, or other mechanical/technical issues may impede data
transfer to and from all machines and Merit's server. None of these
factors are controlled by the Mega-Max League officials. Due to these
types of facts, after each league ends and then another 48 hours passes, the winners are
then posted on this site. Once posted, all standings are then final - we cannot make changes.
We will always wait at least 48 hours to allow all machines to connect, but if
they do not actually do that - we are unable to know. Players and Location
Owners can help by checking the machine's last connection information on the
machine. The "last connection time and date" are posted on the
Tournamaxx page/screen on the machine. Help us to ensure all data was transferred
- following a
league ending date by looking for yourself and notifying the location
management about any lack of connection. Often times, the machine
can be turned off and then back on - it will reboot and make a
connection. Prolonged machine connection failures void all uncollected
data/play. It is
extremely important for players and location owners to help on this issue!
5b.
If a prize check is lost or otherwise
misplaced, Mega-Max officials will reprint the prize checks after notification,
less $20.00 due to a bank check
cancellation fee. Prizes under $20 are not replaceable due to
prohibitive cancellation cost. To inquire about a prize check ALERT your location
owner to contact the machine owner/operator.
5c. Mega-Max League
officials; reserve the right to substitute any advertised prize with an
item which is similar in nature and or cost. Again, should an
occurrence arise where a specific brand or type of prize has been
advertised by Mega-Max leagues, which then becomes discontinued or
otherwise becomes unavailable, it will be replaced by something of
similar value.
League players who earn any combination of
prizes during a calendar year totaling in excess of $599.00 must mail a
properly completed and signed W-9 tax form to the Mega-Max League officials at
P.O. Box 40 Sullivan, Mo. 63080. The completed W-9 must
be received within seven (7) days of league winner postings,
It is the responsibility of all players to know if they have earned in excess of
$599.00 year to date and proactively supply a properly completed W-9 to the
league office. The W-9 must be received as an original (no fax or copies) by
officials no later than ten days after posting of winners, or the prize may
become forfeited. Any player who has provided a completed W-9 during an
earlier league in any calendar year is not required to duplicate the process
until the next calendar year.
Participation in league and or acceptance
of any league prize indicates acceptance of all league rules.

Note; the U.S. Internal Revenue Service
mandates that any individual who annually receives $600 or more in prizes must
be provided a 10-99 at the end of the calendar year. In order to do
that, we must have a properly completed W-9 for each such player on file.
It is the player's responsibility to determine if he/she owes income tax or
not. Players are advised to discuss the matter with their tax advisor when
filing their annual tax return.
